Birmingham Youth Will Have an Opportunity to Participate in a FREE Sports Clinic Hosted by
The City of Birmingham's Division of Youth Services & SWAC at a Local World-Renowned Training Facility.
(Birmingham, AL) - From 9:00am - 4:00pm on July 27, 2009, the City of Birmingham Mayor's Office-Division of Youth Services (DYS) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) will host the Champions Clinic at the Lakeshore Foundation training facility.
This one-day camp is FREE and is for girls and boys between the ages of 9 and 14 years old. Throughout the day, campers will take part in a series of basketball and track & field sports clinics hosted by SWAC professionals. Each participant will receive an official 2009 Champions Clinic t-shirt. Lunch and transportation to and from the camp venue will be provided.
Only 75 slots are available for the 2009 Champions Clinic. Pre-registration is required through the Division of Youth Services office located at 808 North 18th Street in downtown Birmingham. Registrations will be accepted Monday-Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm, until all spaces have been filled.
The 2009 Champions Clinic is sponsored by Regions Bank, the Lakeshore Foundation, SWAC, and the City of Birmingham's Division of Youth Services. Dr Bob's Traveling Snake Show
Don't miss Dr Bob's Traveling Snake Show! It's a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Alabama's native snakes. Bob Hastings is a retired college professor and is currently working with the Alabama Natural Heritage Program as the coordinator of the state's red -cockaded woodpecker Safe Harbor program. He is also an Authority on the biodiversity of Alabama and the SE U.S. He presents numerous educational talks and slide shows on the snakes of Alabama. He has received numerous awards for environmental education; including the 2002 National Wetlands Award in Education/Outreach by the Environmental Law Institute. Bob has been a member of the Alabama Sierra Club state Executive Committee since 2003 and is a member of the National Sierra Club's Environmental Quality Strategy Team. We will meet at the Oak Mountain Wildlife center at 9:45 for the 10:00am show. Rockford Independence Day Celebration
Rockford Independence Day Celebration is sponsored by the Town of Rockford. This event will have arts, crafts, flea market, food, entertainment, FIREWORKS, dancing and lots more.
