Folks in need of basic health screenings are welcome to attend an area open house in the Glenwood Springs area next week.
Mountain Family Health Center in Glenwood Springs will hold the open house from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday to help mark National Health Center Week.The center will offer free health screenings, refreshments and the opportunity to meet care providers and staff.
Mountain Family also is marking its 30th year of service in Colorado, with health centers in Black Hawk and Glenwood Springs.Last year the Glenwood center provided care to 6,202 patients, or about a tenth of Garfield County’s population.The public is welcome to attend the Glenwood open house, at 1905 Blake Ave., Suite 101, across from Valley View Hospital.
The mission of Mountain Family, according to its Web site, is to provide high-quality primary community health care, with special consideration for the medically underserved and uninsured.
It welcomes any person in need of care, regardless of ability to pay, and accepts most private insurances, Medicaid and Medicare, and offers sliding scale programs and other assistance programs for any person who is uninsured.The center provides preventive care for children and adults, routine check-ups, immunizations, family planning and birth control, cancer and diabetes screenings, among other services.
