The Kindle eReader, not just for reading anymore. Yes, the Amazon Kindle is the most popular eReader in the world and it deservedly owns that distinction. With the easiest to read screen indoors and out, faster page turns and in-book dictionary, simple controls and 50% improved reading experience just to point out the high points, it is an amazing piece of technology at just $139.
Even the most dedicated reader will have times when they want to take a break from their Kindle novel, novella, or short story to enjoy a game or two. Fortunately, Amazon has tons of free games that simply add to the awesome value the Kindle represents. Ready for some relaxing and challenging gameplay? Here we go.
First up we have that classic card game, Blackjack. Players attempt to total their cards closest to 21 without going over, and Blackjack mainstays like insurance, doubling down and surrender are available. You can also configure this casino game to different sets of specs, such as “dealer must hit soft 17,” a Vegas style rule. Simple, addictive and free, Kindle Blackjack also has a Strategy mode, which explains how to play and why that play makes the most sense. Instructional and enjoyable casino fun in this free Kindle Game.
The classic Minesweeper of desktop lore is also available as a free game for the Kindle, and forces you to use deductive reasoning against the clock to clear the board of all the mines without blowing yourself up. 3 different difficulty levels and thousands of games make for unlimited, addictive fun.
Readers love words, and Every Word offers a free vocabulary and quick-speed mind challenge that will hook you immediately. You are presented with 6 or 7 letters, and must make as many words as possible with those letters, and the longer the words, the more you score. There is also a timer that works against you. This sounds very simple, but it is challenging fun. Over 300 game reviewers on Amazon rated this more than 4 out of 5 stars for enjoyment. Be careful, very addictive!
Shuffled Row is like an Elimination form of Scrabble. You have 7 letters with which to form a word, and just like Scrabble, when you spell a word, your letters are replaced. Keep forming words until you run out of tiles. Oh yeah, unlike Scrabble Shuffled Row has a timer. Speed and word length pay off big time. For all you Scrabble lovers.
Jumble is my favorite free Kindle game. It involves unscrambling 4 jumbled up words to reveal the correct word. Then you take specially designated letters from those words to rearrange to make a one to 5 word phrase that a short sentence and picture provide clues to. So you really have three challenges in one; a word scramble, a pictorial clue puzzle and a sentence or phrase clue puzzle. This one is very tough, but amazingly addictive. Download via Whispernet for immediate Kindle access at your own peril. There you go, my fave 5 free Kindle games. Just 5 more reasons the Amazon Kindle is the bestselling eReader of all time.
